Work Examples

Sunderland Makers Market

Bureau created a simple, variable identity and promo material for Sunderland Makers Market, distinctive in its freedom from repetition. Using a modern stencil typeface, pastel colour scheme and patterns inspired by traditional markets, printed collateral conveyed the unique and contemporary qualities of the Makers and their products.

school of language - old fears

Bureau was invited to collaborate on the artwork for School of Language's second album. Working from 'The Temple' by Flora Whiteley, we developed a typographic style and colour palette to compliment the cover painting, setting type on an asymmetric grid which provided a visual reference to the painting's subject: the Bauhaus art and design school.

the lean event 2016

Working with long-standing client Software Acumen Bureau conceived and designed the identity for the inaugural lean event. The minimal identity comprises a two colour palette and single typeface with imagery of portraits of the speaking roster, produced by illustrator Joel Benjamin.

Hyde & beast - Keep Moving

Bureau collaborated with Hyde and Beast on the vinyl and cd packaging for Keep Moving, released in 2014. Based on an accidental double-exposure photo, our priority was to stay out of the way of the beautiful imagery, augmenting it with detail-oriented typography set in fonts chosen to reflect some of the band's musical influences.

Sunderland Shorts Film Festival 2016

Reflecting Sunderland Shorts' growth and development, and influenced by research into 2015 audience demographics, Bureau employed the festival's growing image library to project an air of maturity. The images chosen reflect the diversity of filmmaking styles and genres the festival is becoming known for.

Sunderland Shorts Film Festival

Bureau created a visual identity and a range of material for the inaugural Sunderland Shorts Film Festival, in July 2015. We created a large set of illustrations of objects synonymous with filmaking and cinema, using a distinctly American typeface and colour palette to link with the festival's origins in Washington DC, Sunderland's sister city.
