I am an artist based in Durham in the North East of England. I specialise in landscapes in pen and ink and animals in pastels.
Many of my pen and inks have been reproduced on gifts such as coasters, placemats, greetings cards, mugs and bags. Original pen and ink drawings are created with a mixture of black permanent and coloured water soluble ink. Some prints are digital or giclée prints and others are hand-pressed lithographic prints. Limited edition prints are numbered and signed by the artist and come with a certificate of authenticity.
My pastel drawings of animals are created with a mixture of pastel and pencil. My signature style is to draw on black paper which I believe accentuates the vibrancy of colours. My pen and ink landscape work is very different from the animals I draw in pastels. A great deal of patience is required to produce the fine detail in my pen and ink drawings and I enjoy the tranquillity it brings. However, I also enjoy the freedom and expression of working in pastels. Whatever the subject, the North East of England is full of inspiration'.
I regularly undertakes commissions in both pen and ink and pastel. So that I can try to pass on a few skills to others who would like to learn, I also run one-day drawing workshops for beginners.
