Picto Signs is a design-led wayfinding and signage company. Based at The Toffee Factory in Newcastle, we help people to find their way around buildings and public spaces.

You’ll see our wayfinding and signage schemes at Northern Stage, The Darlington Hippodrome and The Fire Station in Sunderland, as well as in colleges, schools and hospice facilities across the region. Our most recent work is for Rutherford Cancer Centres.

Established in 2002, Picto's work ensures our clients across the healthcare, workplace, living spaces, education, culture, community and sports sectors get the best possible wayfinding solution for their projects.

We work with architects, interior designers, project managers, contractors, and developers across the UK and with clients and decision-makers who have the responsibility to run and operate buildings.

All our signage schemes meet with DDA signage guidelines, can be adapted for people living with dementia and offer lasting results and excellent value for money.

Picto’s director, Sarah Phillips, graduated with a degree in Design for Industry from Northumbria University and is a member of the SEGD (Society for Experiential Graphic Design) and the Sign Design Society.

The Bowes Museum

Picto were commissioned to work on a series of projects at The Bowes Museum as part of their on-going programme of major improvements. This included museum branding, display systems and the design and production of interpretation panels for the new English Interiors gallery.
